First european points for team Kömmerling Gresini

21 Jul 2020

Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 played a big role in today’s Moto3 encounter at Jerez, although the results do not give them justice: Gabriel Rodrigo was seventh at the line, with Jeremy Alcoba down in 15th position.

The Spanish rookie, who qualified in sixth place, was showing a great level of form and for big parts of the race he was running near the front with the best in the category, even battling for the top spot towards the halfway point of the encounter. Then a bit too many mistakes and a penalty inflited to him with two laps to go have dealt a big blow to Alcoba’s performance. The only point scored surely left a bitter taste in his mouth especially after what he managed to show on track, but surely there will be another chance to make amends very, very soon.

Gabriel Rodrigo had a more of a ‘safe’ approach – it that can even be possible in a Moto3 race – with the Argentine who came very close to entering the top five, but a collision with a rival prevented him from battling for the podium in the final laps. The #2 rider of Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 is currently sixth in the general standings with 19 points.
