Disappointing race day for team Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3

5 Apr 2021

It was a Sunday to forget for Team Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 with FPS Automation brand who could not capitalise after an excellent qualifying in what was the second and last weekend of racing in Qatar. Both Gabriel Rodrigo and Jeremy Alcoba were part of the game for the podium, but that was not enough.

Alcoba is the first to leave the battle for the win while he was fighting for first place: Binder cut the line early at turn one and the Spanish rider was surprised by the move and – after a mistake – was thrown off the bike and into the gravel. The crash led also to McPhee’s early exit (he was behind), with the Briton then having a shameful and unacceptable reaction which unfortunately with also condition the Spaniard’s race at Portimao (Pit-lane start with a five-second penalty).

Rodrigo also did not enjoy the best of luck. With two laps to go, the Argentine was leading the race, but an aggressive move by Masia led both off the track with too little time to recover before the chequered flag. A thirteenth place meant great disappointment also on his side of the garage.
